My pedagogical observations process took place at Juan XXIII School. This school is located at JUAN XXIII neighborhood.
REFLECTION
My observation took different stages during the whole process I was observing.
There were different aspects that were taken into consideration, in regard with some items that were observed in order to reflect. A set of diaries were written after each observation.
CLASSROOM ATMOSPHERE
It’s really important and fundamental for teachers to
create a positive and engaging classroom atmosphere. It is important behavior that both
students and teacher feel comfortable working on environment free of bad behavior.
In my
case when I was observing, I realized that at the very beginning of each class
observed, the students were willing to pay attention and be focused on what the
teacher explained them. The environment of peace inside the classroom most of time
makes students be focused on teacher assessment, because of the teacher knew
how to promote the participation in class, never showing anger and also used the
best way to communicate with students.
ORGANIZATION
Taking into account what I observed, in this aspect, I point out the teacher
organization was really amazing. He measured the time to carries out the
different kind of activities he did, moreover the fact that the teacher carried his
own material to develop the class was fundamental for the development of
classes.
In
terms of space, the teacher kept a distance from students although they sat in
from of him without respect the lines. The order of the chairs was a mess but it
did not mean teacher would not reach the aims.
CLASSROOM
MANAGEMENT
As we know the classroom management is the
key for a successful development of a class.
I could notice that teacher I observed had
a good management of classes.
The fact of being as clear as possible when
speaking, eye contact and demonstration instead explanation make students realized
that the teacher has control and he is the authority inside the class. Actually,
the teacher quickly identified when his methodology did not work and changed
his strategies to avoid students misbehaves.
FEEDBACK
Basically, feedback is
information about how we are doing in our efforts to reach a goal. I hit a
tennis ball with the goal of keeping it in the court, and I see where it
lands—in or out.
In terms of
application, feedback is reflected on what the teacher tell to students to
improve what they have done. Students prefer to receive a well explained
feedback instead doing assessments by themselves because they really appreciate
and take advantage of what the teacher explain or correct them.
EVALUATION
Some teachers are based on what students know, but
they measure students´ knowledge through evaluations in order to grate the
performance they have in the length of any activity.
In this sense, is important point out that this mechanism is the same used
in the public or private institution to evaluate the students and the courses as such.
